Inspired by August Wilson's speech, "The Ground On Which I Stand," with a touch of Revolutionary Optimism. Words have power. They name what exists, shape what we imagine, and call us toward what’s possible.

Launched on Black Theatre Day (Sept. 17) and the anniversary of The African Grove Theatre, the first known professional Black theatre company in the United States, "alive vibrant vital & funded" is activated to transform the narrative about Black Theatre and invest in the institutions carrying its legacy into the future.
